At present, our staff includes two full time directors, Russell E. Truby and Jason E. Williams; and one part time director, James Tarasi. We also have about nine part-time personnel assistants in the operation of the funeral home.

Russell E. Truby (Supervisor/Owner) - It was the goal of Russ to be a funeral director since the third grade. It is also when his wife, Jan of 26 years, moved into his best friend's house. It was "LOVE" at first sight, for Russ that is. Russ and Jan have owned and operated the funeral home for over 25 years now. Russ has received the Citizen of the Year Award, the Mayor Eaton Trophy and several other awards. Burket-Truby Funeral Home was also very proud to be selected the first "Best Funeral Home" by the Advance Leader. For the last several years we are honored to be a major sponsor and supporter of the Riverview Relay for Life. Russ is involved in several community groups including the Lion's Club, Oakmont and Verona Chamber of Commerce and served as president for both the Lions and the Commerce. He is also a member of Oakmont Elks, Verona Moose, Verona Eagles and Knights of Columbus. He serves on the Board of the RCAC, Teen Challenge, is active in the RAA, served on the Centennial committee in 1986 and is active in various other groups. Jan is a member of the Oakmont Nursing Association, former member and president of the Oakmont Junior Women's Club, Mother's of the Gridiron Club and sings in both the Lion's Club shows and Oakmont-Verona Community Chorus. Russ and Jan are also proud to help run and organize the Glen Anderson Fund. Russ and Jan's biggest accomplish is being blessed with three children, Shea, Sean and Paige.

Shea E. Truby - Shea was a 2006 Graduate of Penn State University and is currently enrolled at Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, where she is planning to follow in the family Business. Shea was a tri-athlete honor student at Riverview High School.

Sean E. Truby - Sean is the second child and is currently attending Point Park University and is planning to attend Mortuary School after graduation. He played Football, Basketball and Baseball for RHS.

Paige E. Truby - Paige is the youngest Truby; Paige is currently attending RHS. She plays basketball and swims for the Rosedale Beach Club. Paige also does the stats for the Girls High School Basketball team. Paige is currently looking at colleges and has not narrowed down her field of study at this time.

Jason E. Williams (Funeral Director) - Comes to Burket-Truby from Harrisburg, PA. Jason attended Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where he received his Associates Degree in Mortuary Science; and Point Park College, were he graduated cum laude with a degree in Funeral Management. He started out as a student worker and then did his internship with Burket-Truby Funeral Home. He is now a full-time director. He also has his insurance license to help assist families in pre-need arrangements.

Charles "Butch" Buttgereit Sr. - (Our Senior Assistant) Butch has been with us since 1989. Butch was in the Navy and received the Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 3 stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 stars. Butch and his wife Jean reside in Verona. They have four children and nine grandchildren.

Joseph "Sonny" Wetmore - Sonny retired from the Oakmont Borough Street Department, where he worked for 35 plus years. Sonny started to work for Burket-Truby Funeral Home in 1998 and continues to serve our families. Sonny lives in Oakmont with his wife Joan. He likes working here for the families and he says the job helps him pay for his golf habit.

Jim Curti - Jim is retired from sales, public relations and teaching in the Plum School District. Jim works part time for us in the evening and he substitute teaches during the day for Plum and Riverview. He is a graduate of Oakmont Senior High and Rollins College. Jim grew up in the Oakmont-Verona area with his two sisters Adeline Brown and Matilda Flannery. He resides in Plum Boro with his wife Betty Louise and they have one daughter, Lisa Ann Valenti and three grandchildren, Angelo, Melissa and Jamie.

William "Red" Craig - Red has worked for Burket-Truby Funeral Home since September 2001. He is also currently employed at Tenth Street Elementary School as a paraprofessional. He spent 25 years in the food service industry, as the manager of Pep's in Fox Chapel. He and his wife, Debbie, reside in Verona with their two children, Jack and Becky; along with numerous pets.

Judy England - Judy has worked for Burket-Truby Funeral Home for the past ten years. She fills in when needed and is a great asset to our home. She has been married to Norm for the past 38 years. They have a daughter Sandy and three grandchildren Matt and twin girls, Ashley and Colleen.

Betsy Carr - Betsy started with us several years ago and worked as a part-time hairstylist, two years ago she became our full-time hairstylist. Betsy resides in East Oakmont with her husband Jim; they also have two grown sons.

Keith Osbourne - Keith is retired from PNC Bank, where he ended a 42 year career in the financial services industry. Keith and his wife Joanne, have been residents of Penn Hills for 36 years. They have two children and four grandchildren. Keith has given his spare time to the volunteer fire service, church finance council, institute of financial education, chamber of commerce, parent-teacher organizations, band boosters and Rotary Club.
