Szalanski, Tamara A.




Tamara A. "Tami" Szalanski, 58, of Blawnox, formerly of Vandergrift, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at home. She was born in Natrona Heights to the late Walter W. and Regina M. (Trawinski) Steele and was the wife of David Szalanski. Tami was a 1977 graduate of Kiski Area Sr. H.S. and a 2008 graduate of Seton Hill University, with a BS in Business and Marketing. She was an avid gardener and an animal aficionado with a special love for dogs, especially hers. She made friends wherever she went and always wore a smile. She had worked as an account service representative for a technology services firm prior to her disability retirement. Tami is survived by a daughter, Anna A. Myers, wife of Anibal Rodriguez Alvarado of Gaithersburg, MD; a sister, Paulette L. Troutner of Ocean View, DE; a brother, Daryl E. Steele of Akron, PA; 5 nephews, Christopher (Rita) and Matthew (Melanie) Troutner, Brandon (Silvia), Taylor, and Dylan Steele; 4 great-nephews, William and Matthew Troutner, Lucas and Logan Steele; and great-niece, Abigail Troutner. A gathering to celebrate Tami's life will be held at 6:00 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, with Pastor Donnie Marsh. The family will receive friends following the services.
