Edward S. Kern passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Ed was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 27, 1932. He was 89 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judith Darlene D'Ambrosio Kern; children, Edward Michael and Mark; daughter-in-law, Wendy; grandchildren, Jaxon and Sophia; nieces, Sally Madia and Susie Roman; and nephew, Craig Rochester. Ed grew up in the Lincoln Avenue area of Pittsburgh and, most recently, Oakmont, PA. Shortly after graduating from high school, Ed enlisted and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 — 1954. After discharge from the Army, Ed spent most of his career working for Railway Express (REA) and Conrail. Ed retired from Conrail. Ed was most proud of the many vegetable gardens that he spent hours tending. His yards were always meticulous and the envy of the neighborhood. Friends and relatives are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish (St. Irenaeus Catholic Church).
