Foote, Florence (Kasser)

Florence Elizabeth Flynn Kasser Foote died peacefully surrounded by family on January 18, 2019. Born in Oakmont, Pennsylvania on January 2, 1922 to Florence (née Diamond) and Charles A. Flynn, Sr., she is survived by her four children: William Richard (Barbara) Kasser of Boca Raton, FL, James Richard (Candace) Kasser of Natick, MA, Anne Kasser (Neal) Mathias of Columbia, SC and Thomas Richard (Tamara) Kasser of Wartrace, TN. While both were working for Alcoa, Florence and Richard Connor Kasser met and married in 1946. He died in 1980. In 1987, she married Edward Brinker Foote. He predeceased her in 2005. Loving “Nana” to Susannah (Steve) Hann of Natick, MA, Sarah (Luke) Brodine of Atlanta,GA, Andrew (Kelsey) Mathias of Greenville, SC, Molly (Val) Kasser of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Richard Kasser of Boca Raton, FL, Gillian (Andrew) Windisch of Portland, OR, Peter (Jessica) Mathias of Charleston, SC, Connor (Blair) Kasser of San Francisco, CA, and Gavin Kasser of Wartrace, TN. Also, seven great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Grace Hann, Nealon and Eben Brodine, and Charlie, Libba and Clara Mathias. Additionally, she is survived by a brother, Edward J. Flynn of Clearwater, FL, a step-son, Edward (Marilyn) Foote of Wexford, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Flynn Fulton and two brothers, Charles A. Flynn, Jr., and William A. Flynn. A skilled bridge player and avid reader, she enjoyed writing, flower arranging, and many happy times in both Florida and Maine. A Life Member of The Oakmont Country Club, she also belonged to The Garden Club of Oakmont and St. Irenaeus Church. There was never a challenge in life she did not meet nor a New York Times Crossword Puzzle she could not solve. She faced death as she lived life - with thoughtfulness towards others, a wonderful sense of humor, and an abundance of grace. For the last thirteen years, Florence has enjoyed a very active life at Longwood at Oakmont. Her family is grateful for the caring staff at both Parkview and the Hanna Health Care Center in more recent times. Friends and family will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont, Saturday January 19, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Irenaeus Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Verona Cemetery, Oakmont.
