Krieger, Violet Jean

Violet Jean Krieger died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Friendship Village health care center in Pittsburgh. Jean, as she was known to all, was born on July 27, 1934 in Pittsburgh and is the daughter of the late James and Violet (Matthews) Nicholson. She raised her family in and loved the city of Pittsburgh. She is survived by her loving husband, Walter, of 63 years. She has four sons, Mark (Kristina), Scott (Judy) and Ken. Her first born son, Richard, died of cancer in 1972 at the age of 13. She has eight grandchildren whom she adored - Kyle (Nicki), Michael (Ali), Ryan, Kevin, Gabrielle, Eric, Grant, Garrett - and two great-grandchildren - Eden and Amos - and an expected third great-grandchild. Jean was a devoted mother who lived life with a beautiful, non-judgmental, loving spirit and an encouraging, positive, always-smiling personality. She had a life-long walk in Christian faith having raised her family and serving as an Elder in the Verona Presbyterian Church. In their long retirement, Jean and Walter lived in Little River, South Carolina where they loved time at the beach, driving in their convertible and going to restaurants. Private graveside services were held at the Hebron Presbyterian Church cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Cindy McClung.
