Hough, Joseph F., Jr.

Age 77, of Penn Hills, joined our heavenly father on Monday, October 19, 2020. Joe was the beloved husband of Mary Helen (Windisch) Hough; father to Kelly (Asif) Ali; and grandfather of Siena Ali; as well as a dear brother and uncle; brother of Janet (Louis) Pietragallo, Linda (Alan) Lebow, Susan (John) Chabala, James, Bruce (Peggy) and John (Karen). Joe was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Hough and brothers, Thomas and Ronald Hough. Joe grew up in Point Breeze, graduated in 1961 from Central Catholic High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Edinboro University and his master’s degree at Indiana State University. Joe spent his early career in the National Teacher Corps. After returning to Pittsburgh a few years later he made a career change to industrial sales and retired from Applied Industrial Technologies. During his 20 years of retirement, Joe enjoyed his boat, reading, vacations in Cape May and spending every minute possible with his beloved Siena especially at the soccer field. Joe was devoted to his wife of 53 years, Mary Helen, and the two were longtime members of St. Susanna’s Church where he was on Parish council and served as an usher. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Woodhaven Care Center for their compassionate care along with his sister, Sue Chabala, for advocating and guiding us. Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-7:30 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont. A blessing service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the conclusion of the visitation. Masks and social distancing required no more than 25 people in the funeral home at a time.
