Pica, Joanne A.

Joanne A. Pica, 78 of Verona passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020, after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of the late John and Matilda "Tilly" (Kaus) Gasparich. Beloved Wife for 51 years of Robert Pica.  Loving Mother of Holly Pica and Rob (Richelle) Pica. Grandmother of Colton and Aiden Pica.  Beloved Twin Sister of Diane (Jack) Singer, Peter (Stephanie) Gasparich, Steve "Butch" (Deborah) Gasparich and the late Mark Gasparich. A dear Aunt to her nieces and nephews!   Whether it was working as a young girl at the former family store, Gasparich's Market in Oakmont and eventually retiring from Mine Safety Appliance, Joanne always took pride in the professional positions she held. But what she took pride in the most was being a mom. She was the first to sign up as a room parent at her children’s school, always did the baking for school events and was right there to cheer on her kids in any sports which they participated. They were her number one priority! She lived her life with a strong faith in God, always believing that he will get you through difficult times, all you have to do is pray. Joanne or “Go-Go” (as her family called her) had a lot of energy and a creative side with her love of ceramics, knitting, cooking or tearing up the dance floor with her twin on a weekly dance show in Pittsburgh. She even won the Tri-State Dance contest in High School. She took after her parents who loved to dance. Joanne would be the first one on the dance floor to polka with her husband, son, brother or father. What made her the happiest was just spending time with her family and friends. Every day after work there would be “happy hour” at her mother Tilly’s house. She would spend the evening having a cocktail with her mother, sister and brothers. This was something she never missed. She loved to be with her family. She was a remarkable person who always had a smile for everyone. Her warmth and kindness will be greatly missed. Friends and relatives will be received on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave.Oakmont.  Masks and social distancing required, no more than 10 people in the funeral home at a time.  Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, December 29, 2020, 11 a.m. Holy Family Parish (St. Irenaeus Catholic Church). Interment will follow in the Verona Cemetery, Oakmont
