DeFazio, Albert, Sr.




Albert DeFazio, Sr, 95 of Penn Hills passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at his daughter’s home. Beloved Husband of the late Freda B. (Perella) DeFazio. Loving Father of Valerie (Keith) Vacula and Albert (Saundra) DeFazio, Jr. Grandfather of Kristen Cummings, Tony DeFazio, Nicholas DeFazio and Natalie DeFazio. Great-Grandfather of Braden Jones and Nico DeFazio. Brother of Anthony “Fuzzy” (Pat) Defazio and the late William & Patsy DeFazio and Angelina Buono. Al worked for 39 years for the Oakmont Water Authority. He was a Army World War II Veteran and director of the Stars and Stripes Baton Corp for 23 years. He was also a drummer with Vern Acklin Drum and Bugle Corp and enjoyed the Veteran’s Breakfast Club. Friends and relatives will be received on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 2-6 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont. Masks and social distancing required, no more than 25 people in the funeral home at a time. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, January 12, 2021, 10:30 am. Holy Family Parish (St. Joseph Catholic Church). Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to the VA Aspinwall for Patient Programs, 1010 Delafield Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15215 or the Veteran’s Breakfast Club, 200 Magnolia Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15228.
