Donald E. "Pappy" Boulton, 85, of Springdale met his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 29, 2021 in the VA Hospital, Oakland. Born on February 2, 1935 in Oakmont, he was a son of the late John and Bertha (Margus) Boulton. Beloved Husband for 30 years of Joan (Murray) Boulton. Loving Father of Kathy D. (Scott) Barlup of Camp Hill, PA, Lynda (Perry) Davis of New Kensington, Frank (Carol) Sicilia of New Kensington and the late Donald Boulton. Father-in-Law of Terri Boulton and the late Oliver Vickers, Sr. Grandfather of Oliver (Nikala) Vickers, Jr., Joan (Michael) Kranik, Sarah (Zack) Lindey, Kristen (Brendan) Scioscia, Julia Sicilia, Zachary Boulton, Jared Barlup, Brogan Barlup, Nikki MacZura, Julie (Bryan) Marquis, and Mandi (Josh) Swetof. Great-Grandfather of 13. Godfather of Sean (Serena) Burroughs. Brother of the late Sally Johnson and John "Jack" Boulton. Brother-in-law of Leo (Karen) Murray, Dotti (Bob) Canobbio, and Rick (Dee) Murray. Pappy is also survived by his Rotarian Daughter, Armyn Gazdar, and was preceded in death by his lifelong friend, Chuck (surviving spouse, Dee) Wagner. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Don attended Kiski Prep High School, University of Louisville, and Slippery Rock where he played football and got his nickname, "Pappy," and a scholarship fund was named after him in 2019. He was an Air Force Veteran, serving during Korea, and coached football and taught Physical Education at East Deer Frazer/West Deer, now Deer Lakes High School, later retiring from Springale High School. Pappy was a motivational coach of the year for the Big 33 and was instrumental in the initiating the Varsity Volleyball and Track and Field at East Deer and West Deer. He was associated with the Gideon Society,a member of Verona Masons Lodge 548, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason, held a Master equivalency degree, a member of Springdale American Legion Post 764, and was inducted into the Alle Kiski Hall of Fame in 2017. He will forever be remembered as a mentor to many young men in shaping their young lives. Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 2-7 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont. Masks and social distancing required, no more than 25 people in the funeral home at a time. Funeral Service will be private for the family with Rev. Marsha Adams of Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell with Military Honors by Springdale Veterans Association. If desired, please consider a donation in Pappy's name to a charity of one's choice.
