Jersey, James

James “Jimmy” Howard Jersey, a beautiful soul, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, April 17, 2021. He was born on Flag day 1952 to the late Howard and Dorothy (Hart) Jersey in Rochester, PA. He spent the majority of his life in Oakmont, PA. Jimmy took an early interest in the family business, Jersey Chrome Plating, where he worked from age 15 until his passing. He later become owner and president and was the heart and soul of the business. He not only knew every aspect of the business but also conducted every operation. An incredibly unique talent with the perseverance and tenacity that no machine or instrument would ever be too much for him to fix and handle. Jimmy also had a love for sailing and later captained the fastest motor-sailor on the Allegheny. He was an avid fan and season ticket holder for the Penguins, Steelers and the Pirates(since Forbes Field!). Jimmy enjoyed deep sea fishing out of Ocean City MD and Islamorada, Fl. He also enjoyed golfing and was a member of Alcoma and Shannopin Country Club. He was especially fond of the 19th hole and sharing jokes and stories with the guys. Jimmy was a member of the Elks, Masons, ASM, and AESF. Jimmy truly touched the lives of all that knew him(and many that did not) with his robust personality, extreme generosity and outstanding wit. He is preceded in death by his father Howard, mother Dorothy and brother Jeff. He is survived by his son Alan (Maria) Jersey of Pittsburgh, PA, daughter Jeralyn (Jeremy) Douberly of New Orleans, La and four beautiful grandchildren Aubrey, AJ and Aaron of Pittsburgh, PA and Matthew of New Orleans, La. He is also survived by the Mother is his children, Karen Z. Jersey, his beloved companion and friend, Laura Schlimgen of many years, and his close friend, John Kratsa and his wife Linda. A private family service will be held at Allegheny Cemetery. Friends are invited to a gathering at Silky’s Pub in Bloomfield for a Toast of Guiness on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 12 Noon.
