Melani, Rudolph




Rudolph "Rudy" Melani, 94 of Cheswick passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 18, 1927 in Belle Vernon, he was the son of the late Frank and Sylvia (Sichi) Melani. Beloved Husband of the late Nora (Bernabei) Melani, who preceded him in death on February 6, 2016. Loving Father of Dr. Kenneth (Tracy) Melani and Janet (Charles) Kish. Grandfather of Christine (David) Racchini, Carrie (Simon) Pfister, Alyssa Melani, and Sofia Melani. Great-Grandfather of Caitlyn, Calleigh, Levi, Declan, and Charlotte. Brother-in-law of Eileen Melani. Brother of the late Raymond Melani. A member of Mt. St Peter Catholic Church in New Kensington, he proudly served our country during World War II in the Army and the Korean War in the Air Force. He retired from PennDot as a civil engineer and after retiring, he continued consulting at SAI Engineering Inc. in Pittsburgh. An avid golfer, he continued enjoying the sport until 3 months ago, having been a part of the Saturday golf leagues at Rose Ridge and later Ritzwood. Rudy was a member of Italian Son's and Daughters of America, enjoyed watching sports, and loved hanging out with his friends from the golf leagues, the Pittsburgh Mills Mall and fellow retirees from PennDot and SAI. Most of all he deeply loved his wife of 67 years and his family and will be greatly missed by all. Friends and relatives will be received on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, October 12, 2021, 10:30 a.m. Mt. St. Peter Catholic Church, New Kensington. Please wear a mask during visitation and during funeral mass.
