It is with great sorrow that our brother passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022. John D. "Jack" McKalip, age 81 was a lifelong resident of Oakmont, never leaving Fifth Street. He was of the Fifth Street Gang. He was born to the late Martha Ruth and John C. McKalip of Oakmont. He was a Steeler and Pirates fan, and always had a love for cars-always building custom cars or fixing them. His favorite being a 1965 Mustang and a 57 Golden Oldsmobile. Fishing was a great pastime for him. He coached the girls softball team from the late 70's to the middle 80's. They would travel and with great pride brought their trophies home with them. John also had his best friend, his dog, Max with him for many years for company. He is survived by his sister, Dora Kelley of Lower Burrell and his brother Robert McKalip of Murrysville. He is also survived by his nieces, Karen Kasavage, Michelle Tanner and his nephew, Kevin Kasavage. he is also survived by his great nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his long lifetime friend, Gary Matassa. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marge Anderson, niece, Barbara Shook, and nephew, Christopher Kasavage. He was of the Methodist faith. To our brave brother Jack, you fought so hard for so long. Now you are at rest. You are forever in our hearts. Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 3-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 10:30am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Verona Cemetery, Oakmont.
