Vagionis, Dr. George Nicholas




Dr. George Nicholas Vagionis, 90 of Cheswick (formerly of Allegheny Township) passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Son of the late Nicholas and Maria (Panos) Vagionis. Beloved Husband of the late Betty P. (Megas) Vagionis. Loving Father of Maria V. (John) Cutone and Dr. Andrew G. (Cynthia) Vayonis. Grandfather of Alexa, Brad, and Natalie Vayonis. He was predeceased by his three siblings, Anthony, Sophie, and Theo. George had 35 years of service in education, first as a teacher, then as a guidance counselor, and ending his career as the Assistant Superintendent of Kiski Area School District. His hobbies included golfing, running, painting, playing the mandolin and bouzouki, and he was a former member of the Alle-Kiski Kiwanis Club. He served in the Army stationed in Ft. Lee, Virginia earning the Rank of First Lieutenant. Friends and relatives will be received on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, 10 a.m. at Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church in Oakmont. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH.
