John E. Martz "Jack", age 77 of Verona, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday January 10, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Oakland. He was the loving son of the late Mary Verna (Schwaderer) and John Martz. Beloved husband for 51 years to Sally (Tierno) Martz. Loving father to Alison (Robert) Castro, Kelly (Chad) Flatt, and Jaclyn (Jennifer) Rinkevich. Cherished Pap Jack to Jack, Colin, Ruby, Quincy, Shea, and Gus. Brother to Jim (Cathy), Bob (Renee), Fran (JoAnn), Joe, and the late Bill (surviving spouse Lisa) Martz. Uncle to many loving nieces and nephews. Jack was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam. He later gave his time by volunteering at the VA hospital assisting other veterans. He was an avid reader, history buff, loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, and enjoyed spending time with his grandpup, Charlie. Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 on Friday January 13 from 2-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday January 14 at St. Joseph's Church 825 2nd St. Verona, Holy Family Parish.
