Savio, August Jr.

August Savio, Jr., age 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning, January 16, 2023. He was the son of the late August and Angelina (Fornasier) Savio, Sr. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor Scassera. Loving father of August D. Savio, Angela (William) Jollie, and the late Lawrence A. Savio. Grandfather of Marissa and Carina. Great-grandfather of Josue and Anjelica. Augie was a proud veteran serving two tours in the Korean War in the 8th Army Ranger Division and earning a Purple Heart. He returned home to marry the love of his life, Eleanor, and became a bricklayer by trade following in his father's footsteps. He and Eleanor built their family brick by brick on a foundation of love. Augie was strong and steady, with wide shoulders that carried his family through many of life's ups and downs, his loved ones knowing he would always provide. He enjoyed a good strong drink, a weekly game of golf with friends, doing puzzles, and reading books. He looked forward to Sunday dinners and spending time with family, most of all, his great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 9 am until parting prayers at 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian burial 10:30 a.m. St. Joseph's Church, Verona, Holy Family Parish.
