Harriet Jane Edwards was born during the Great Depression, at home in Indianola, PA, to her parents, the late Harry and Henrietta (Kelso) Edwards. She lived most of her adult life in Springdale, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Marchek, son Joseph Matthew (Tina) Marchek, brother Carl and her three older sisters: Kathleen, Jeanie and Klanthie, who helped to raise her after her mother’s passing when she was a baby.
Despite being deaf from birth, Harriet had an indomitable spirit and was always quick with a joke. She was a hard worker throughout her life, in wide ranging jobs, as a Nanny, Waitress, Production Manager and Nurse’s Aide/Housekeeper
Above all else, Harriet was a devoted, loving wife and mother. A confirmed cat person, later in life, she was quite surprised to discover she had room in her heart for the family’s dogs too.
She was blessed with an adventurous spirit and enjoyed travel, especially to Tampa, FL, and Myrtle Beach, SC. An accomplished cook, her baking skills were unparalleled. A talented artist & seamstress, she also liked to crochet, read, sing (country western and gospel music) and was a very spiritual person.
She is survived by her daughters: Bonnie (James) Lott and Janet (David) Myers - with whom she resided for 25 years before moving to Concordia at Cabot.
Her grandchildren are: Shawn (Allison) Liotta, Jeremy Liotta, David Myers, Micheal Lott, Dana (Lott) Carrigan, Matthew Marchek, Joseph Marchek, Shane Marchek, Kodie Marchek and Amber Marchek; along with her great grand children.
The family wishes to thank the direct care staff at Concordia, Cabot, for their compassionate and loving care of Harriet. In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged for their Good Samaritan Endowment Fund.
Friends and relatives are invited to a blessing service on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont. Interment will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township next to her husband.
