Joseph J. Sciarrino, 84 formerly of Oakmont passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Significant other for 22 years of the late Rosalie Sprague. Father of John (Dana) Sciarrino, Stacie Sciarrino, and Karen (Alan) Caplan. Grandfather of Sage and Sierra Caplan, Erin and Blake Sciarrino. Son of the late John and Josephine (Greco) Sciarrino, Brother of the late Geraldine (the late James) Meli, the late Josephine (the late Victor) Fisher, the late Rose (the late George) Povlick, and the late Mary (late Raymond) Horvath. Uncle of David (Rose) Fisher, Kevin (Francine) Povlick, Nancy (Brian) Linderman, and the late Kenneth (surviving spouse, Billie Joe) Povlick, and the late Dennis Fisher, John O'Bryan, Diane Macke, and Candi Owens. Also survived by several great nieces, nephews, special friends, and his dogs, Penny and Sophia. Prior to his retirement, Joe worked at Amtrak in Virginia. He proudly served our country as an Aviation Structural Mechanic in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, was an avid PIttsburgh Steeler fan, loved classic cars, and 50's and 60's music. He had a funny sense of humor, quick witted, always ready to tell a joke. A feisty and generous guy, he also enjoyed his iPad, phone conversations, and FaceTiming with his family and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his care teams at the Grand Villa of Palm Coast, Advent Health of Palm Coast, Halifax Medical Center of Daytona Beach, Abode Care of Monroeville, and Promedica Hospice. Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont where a blessing service will be held at 7 p.m. at the end of the visitation, followed by military honors. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the MS Society, Dementia Society of America, National Alliance for Mental Illness, or a charity of one's choice.
