Bernard W. Flynn, Jr. "Bern", age 75 formerly of Penn Hills, passed away on Saturday February 18, 2023. He was the eldest son of the late Mary (Berg) and Bernard Flynn, Sr. Loving father of Bernie (Tracey) Flynn, III, Lucas Flynn, and Steel (Kate) Flynn. Grandfather of Shane, Nina, Sara, Maverick, and Archer Flynn. Loving brother of Edward (Suzanne) Flynn, Colleen (Larry) Light, Robert Flynn, Timothy (Linda) Flynn, Lillian (Bruce) Shoupe, Peg (Ed) Sweeney, Tom (Kris) Flynn, John (Cindy) Flynn, and the late Michael (late Franny) Flynn. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews.
Bern loved the outdoors, was an avid runner, and the former captain of the Carnegie Tech track and cross country teams. After graduating from Tech, with a degree in Mathematics, Bern began his work career at Armco Steel, which took him to Butler, and culminated with his retirement from the Butler VA after 10 years as an IT specialist.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Penn Hills. Arrangements entrusted to BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC.
