Alexander McMillan Hill, of Oakmont, died July 11, 2023 at his home in Cheswick, PA.

Alex was born December 15, 1963 with severe and profound Down Syndrome.  He lived at home with his family until age six when he went to Allegheny Valley School in Crafton, PA, and for his remaining years resided with The Verland Foundation which his mother helped to co-found after seeing a great need for individuals with special needs.  While Alex was non-verbal his entire life, he was able to communicate with sounds to indicate if he was happy or frustrated, and by reaching out to take us by the hand when he wanted to eat cheerios or pretzels or have a drink of lemon blend.  He loved to dangle a shoestring on a Frisbee and listen to music.  While we are sad that he is no longer physically here, we rejoice that he is now whole and healed and likely dancing and singing and doing all of the things he could not do in his earthly body.

Alex was adored by his father and mother, the late Thomas Alexander Hill and the late Virginia Hulings Hill, whom he joins in heaven, and is survived by sisters Tamsen Hill Ercole, Victoria Ann Hill, and Tara Hill (Glenn) Conroy.  He is also survived by his Aunt June Luciana, cousins Joseph Luciana III (Audrey), Richard Luciana (Patty Kasper). and Jeffrey Luciana.  Alex was the Uncle of Alexandra (Kyle) Stackhouse, Spenser (Caitlin) Ercole, Brodie and Harper Ercole, Bryan Yuhas, Rachel Yuhas (Max Wendkos), Grace Yuhas, Bailey (Evan) Conroy Spears, Carter, Aleta, and Chase Alexander Conroy. Great-uncle of Beau, Emersyn, and Everett.  We would like to thank Kathy, Sandy, and his many other loving caregivers who treated Alex as their own during the 38 years he was at Verland.

Burial will be private at The Verona Cemetery, Oakmont.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Verland Foundation, 212 Iris Rd. Sewickley, PA 15143.  Arrangements entrusted to the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., Oakmont.
