Anthony P. "Tony" Listorti, age 85 of Penn Hills passed away on Tuesday September 26, 2023. Born in 1938 in Castelbottaccio, Italy, he was the son of the late Incoronata (DeOto) and Michael Listorti. Beloved and Devoted Husband for 55 years of the late Delfina A. "Del" (Tamburrino) Listorti who predeceased Tony in 2020. Loving Father of Mark (Lisa) Listorti, Mischele (Gus) Damian, Marie (Dr. Darren) Brash, and Natalie (Vito) Ferrante. Cherished Nonno of August (Samantha) Damian, Mia Damian, Nicolina Damian, Peter A. Ferrante, Victoria Ferrante, Christopher Listorti, and Nicholas Listorti. Great-Nonno of Theo Ferrante. Dear Brother of the late Graziella (late Damiano) Carluccio and the late Luigi "Gene" (surviving Anna) Listorti. Also survived by many Nieces and Nephews.
At age 18, traveling heroically by himself, Tony traveled to America with two suitcases on the last successful voyage of the S.S. Andrea Doria. He went onto Youngstown, OH and owned L&M Tailoring. Finally, coming to Pittsburgh and along with his brother Gene opening Listorti's Meat Market specializing in homemade Italian sausage that was served with pride and enjoyed by the community in Verona, PA and surrounding communities- which they owned and operated for 40+ years. He married the love of his life, Delfina and had four wonderful children who were his pride and joys even until his last breath, passing away surrounded by his children with love. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Adventurous, always spontaneous, always kind with a sparkle in his eye, loved dancing, tailoring, gardening, giving and generous of his time. A true gentleman, one of the last of his kind, he epitomized the American Dream.
Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC, 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 on Sunday October 1 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A devout Catholic, drawing strength from his faith, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Tony at Holy Family Parish - St. Joseph's Church Verona on Monday October 2 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Allegheny Cemetery, Lawrenceville reuniting with his beloved wife Delfina.
