Surrounded by his family, Anthony "Tony" Kozlosky of Oakmont Pennsylvania succumbed to old age and peacefully passed away on January 6, 2026. He was 101 years old.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann (Smolik) of over 68 years of marriage. He is survived by his children Joan Parcher (Paul Montenegro) of Providence RI, Tom Kozlosky (Elaine Kozlosky) of Oakmont PA and Carl Kozlosky (Katie Kozlosky) of Port Angeles WA; his grandchildren Heather Kozlosky (Christian Gass), David Kozlosky, Brice Kozlosky, Jason Kozlosky, Megan Kozlosky, and Anna Kozlosky; and great grandchildren Ethan, Graham and Scarlett Gass. He was also survived by his beloved 19-year-old cat, Lula.
Tony has been an Oakmont resident for over 70 years where he raised his family of three. He hails from Ford City PA and the last and youngest of three brothers. Both his mother (Pauline Hnatiow) and father (Anton) immigrated to the US from Ukraine in the early 1900’s. As such he was bilingual, speaking Ukrainian at home and of course English everywhere else. And although he lived through the great depression, he has said that he never felt poor.
Tony was a devoted husband and father who loved his three children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was an avid artist and collected many paintings, many of which were of his own. He and his wife Ann cherished antiques as his home would attest. He enjoyed golf and played until his eighties and was never known to ride a cart.
Despite his modest education (high school and art school), he was wicked smart. He would knock off the Sunday crossword puzzle in no time and destroy anybody who dared challenge him in a game of scrabble. He could name any plant or animal in an instant. Even at his old age, his mind remained with him until the end.
In his earlier days, Tony served 2 years and nine months during World War II (Mar 1943 to Dec 1945). He was a staff sergeant in the 14th Airforce and flew in a C-47 cargo plane as a radio operator over China, Burma, and India. He accumulated 814 combat flying hours in 320 missions and amongst others, was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary aerial achievement.
After the war, Tony went to art school and made his living for the next 40-plus years as a commercial artist until he retired in 1986.
At age 100, Tony was honored as the Grand Marshall of the 2024 Oakmont-Verona Memorial Day parade.
Tony will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, dear friend, cat lover, and one of the last heroes of the greatest generation on Earth. The likes of him are truly rare.
