Catherine "Cathy" A. Bonaroti, age 75 of Oakmont, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday October 25, 2024.  She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Edward Omecene of Verona.  Beloved wife of Frank A. Bonaroti for 49 years, they were married on Valentine's Day. Loving mother of Tara (Domenic) Mangieri, Dean (Jessica) Bonaroti, and David (Rebecca) Bonaroti.  Nana of Rocco, Nico, and Frankie.  Sister of Butch (Mimi) Omecene, Debby Lane, Rob (Sheila) Omecene, and the late Dennis (Cindy) Omecene. Also survived by countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Catherine was a proud graduate of Verona High School and had a successful career in real estate, retiring as Vice President of AHRCO in 2018. She was a voracious reader and loved cooking, bowling, dancing, Pitt football, Glen's ice cream and summer vacations in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Diagnosed with systemic lupus nearly forty years ago, Catherine courageously overcame numerous medical obstacles throughout her life. She was a pillar of the lupus charity community, raising tens of thousands of dollars for research to help others afflicted by this disease. A member of the St. Irenaeus / Holy Family parish, she was an active volunteer with their fleatique market and dedicated her time towards other endeavors such as the Oakmont Garden Club and Girls Hope of Pittsburgh. Her legacy will always be defined by her grace, strength and boundless compassion.

Friends and family will be received on Monday and Tuesday October 28th and 29th, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday October 30th, 2024 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish - St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Oakmont.  Interment to follow at The Verona Cemetery in Oakmont.
