Clara S. Oskin, 96, of Oakmont and formerly of Penn Hills, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at the Presbyterian Care Center in Oakmont.
She was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Penn Hills. She attended school in Penn Hills and later took business courses while owning Suzanne's Fashions in Monroeville, which she opened in 1976.After retiring from her business, she worked at CATHERINA in Oakmont, where she made good friends.
She was a member of the Oakmont Presbyterian Church and loved her church and church friends. She enjoyed helping to manage a program of movies at church, she was an original docent at the Kerr Museum and enjoyed volunteering at the Oakmont Historical Society. Clara was an avid reader and loved walking around Oakmont. Most of all, she loved time spent reminiscing with family.
Survivors include her son, John H. Oskin (Karen) of Irwin; her daughter Claire D. Grove (Robert) of Cecil Township; and five grandchildren, Jeff, Chris and Kevin Oskin, and Suzanne and Brent Grove, seven great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. She will also be missed by her dear friends Amy and John Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, daughter Lynda, parents Mary and Frank Gorsha, twin brother Clair Gorsha, brother Leonard Gorsha and sisters Anne McAdams and Catherine (Peg) Migliozzi.
Friends and relatives will be received from 9-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Avenue in Oakmont. A service will follow at 11 a.m. at Oakmont Presbyterian Church, 415 Pennsylvania Avenue, Oakmont.
Committal after luncheon at Mt. Hope Cemetery reuniting Clara with her husband John and daughter Lynda.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or Oakmont Presbyterian Church.
