Daniel Roland Chaney, 94 of Verona, Pennsylvania, passed into the presence of Jesus Christ, his Savior on Monday September 18, 2023. Dan was born on April 12, 1929, to Genevieve and Charles Chaney in the Parker Street home of his grandparents, Daniel and Alice Chaney in Verona, Pennsylvania. Later his parents moved to their Fourth Street home in Verona, where Dan was raised. When Dan was about 14 years old, he and his father took a walk and ended up purchasing a work horse for five dollars. Dan had a picture of himself on that huge horse which his son, Bob, later turned into a painting that Dan treasured until the day he died. After Dan graduated from Verona High School in 1947, he worked for several years at Wooding's Hardware in Verona, a job he loved and often reminisced about. Dan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Though he was stationed in several parts of the eastern U.S., he always talked the most about his time in the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia. Later, after getting married, he began working for the Duquesne Light company where he remained until he retired. In 1952, Dan married Victoria ("Vickie") Gabor, whom he had met in high school. Dan and Vickie went on to have two sons, Daniel and Robert. Dan and Vickie spent the first few years of their marriage living in the home of Vickie's mother. During that time, they were able to purchase a piece of land, covered in woods, two miles away in Penn Hills. There, Dan cut down the trees and began building a small frame house which, in the summer of 1959, became the beloved home of this family for over half a century until, in 2016 Dan and Vickie moved to Seneca Hills Village. Dan was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Genevieve, and two brothers, Charles Uhdel and Clarence. He is survived by his wife, Victoria, his two sons, Daniel (Alicia) and Robert, his two grandchildren, Sofia (Jason) and Christian (Kate), and four grandchildren, Rowan, Eleanor ("Nora"), Boyce, and Magnolia ("Noli"). Also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.
