David Michael Messina, 64, passed away on March 17, 2024, with his loving family by his side.
He was born June 3, 1959, in Pittsburgh and lived most of his life in Springdale.
David graduated from Riverview High School in 1978. He was a licensed stationary engineer and skilled carpenter, but his true passion was repair work, and he could fix almost anything. David worked as a steelworker for Kellogg-American from 1980 to 1982 and then for over ten years as the lead of the maintenance shop for the Holiday Inn and associated properties in Harmar. Later, he worked as the maintenance lead for the JCPenney store in the Monroeville Mall. He retired as a regional inspector for the Johnson Controls corporation in 2015.
David was of the Christian faith and wholeheartedly served the Lord his entire life. He liked helping others and was proud of his mission trips including to Mexico in the 1990s. You could often find David enjoying his pipe or a good cigar with family and friends. He always entertained a crowd for his 4th of July parties, which he hosted at his home for almost twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Elsa Jean (Piccinini) Messina.
