Debra Ellen Bixby

d. Jun 18, 2026

Pittsburgh

Debra Ellen Bixby, née Goldman, known lovingly to family and friends as Debbie or Deb, passed away on June 18, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, just two days after her seventy-first birthday. Born on June 16, 1955, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Sylvan Goldman and the late Barbara Goldman, née Miller.

A lifelong Pittsburgher, Debbie was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School and went on to earn her degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Ambitious and creative by nature, she channeled her considerable talents into a confection business called Creative Chocolates, which she founded and operated with passion and care. In later years, Debbie embraced new forms of expression, considering herself a digital creator and bringing her inventive spirit into the modern age.

Debbie was, above all, a welcoming and friendly person whose warmth drew others to her effortlessly. Her keen sense of humor could lighten any room, and she had a gift for making people feel at ease in her presence. A talented baker, she found great joy in sharing her creations with family, friends, and neighbors. Beyond the kitchen, she devoted many happy hours to knitting, crocheting, and embroidery, crafting with the same attention and love that she brought to everything she did.

Debbie was a proud mother and an adoring grandmother whose family was the center of her world. She is survived by her two sons, William Bixby and J. D. Bixby; her brother, Mark Goldman; and her beloved grandchildren, James and Gideon, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In keeping with her Jewish faith, the family asks that those who wish to honor Debbie's memory consider making a donation to a charity of their choice or simply sharing a kind gesture with someone in need, as Debbie so often did throughout her life. May her memory be a blessing.
