Obituary

Edwin "Ed" Yessler

December 7, 1925 – August 28, 2025

Edwin "Ed" Yessler, age 99 of Pittsburgh PA passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on August 28, 2025, following a lengthy illness.  Born on December 7, 1925, Ed grew up during the Great Depression.  In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve in World War II, completing his service with the Army Air Forces in 1945.

After returning home, Ed launched a lengthy and successful career as a sales professional in the institutional food industry. His colleagues remember him as a relationship-driven salesman whose honesty, reliability, and wit turned customers into loyal friends.

A true sports enthusiast, Ed took great joy in friendly competition and camaraderie. He played a variety of sports, but golf became his greatest passion. He played as often as possible well into his nineties.  He was also a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Pitt Panthers.

Ed is survived by his children, Dale Yessler (Barbara), Diane Wilfong (Edward) of Baltimore, MD, and Karen Yessler; grandchildren Michael Wilfong (Beverly), Stephanie Enslen (John), Danielle Teague, and Daniel Yessler; great grandchildren Lacy Wilfong, Audrey Wilfong, Michael Wilfong Jr. and Zoe Enslen; sisters Shirley Valentine and Lois Matoney and a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who became like family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Nancy Westlake Yessler, his mother, Ethel Yessler, father Lawrence Yessler, and sister Doris Hummert.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, yet his legacy of friendship, loyalty, and good humor will endure.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 2 - 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139.
