Elizabeth Jean McDade Shock

"A Life filled with love, family, and memories"

Elizabeth Jean McDade Shock, lovingly known as "Jeanie" to her friends and siblings and "Gee" to her grandchildren, was a one-of-a-kind woman whose love for family, feisty spirit, quick humor, and caring heart left an everlasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. A name filled with a lifetime of love, laughter, memories, and moments that will never be forgotten.

Born and raised in Verona, Jeanie was the oldest of 10 siblings. Being the oldest was more than just a place in the family; it was a role she carried throughout her entire life. She was a natural caretaker, someone who looked after others and made sure the people she loved were taken care of. Of her 10 siblings, she is survived by her brother Harry McDade, and her sister, Shirley Gauger.

Jeanie eventually made her home in Indianola, where she raised her family alongside her beloved husband Richard Shock, who proceeded her in death. Together, they built a family and a lifetime of memories that would continue to grow for generations.

She leaves behind her 4 children: Richard Shock, Barbie Shock, Lorrie Schragg, and Donald Shock. Her family grew to include 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

But Jeanie was so much more than a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a second mother to many, helping raise her younger siblings, nieces, nephews, and all of her grandchildren. She had a way of making sure everyone was cared for, and her love extended far beyond the walls of her own home. If you were part of her family, you were part of her heart.

Jeanie had a personality that was impossible to forget. She was feisty, funny, strong-willed, and caring. She could make you laugh, tell you exactly what she thought, and make sure you knew you were loved-sometimes all in the same conversation. She had a spirit all her own, and anyone who knew her knew there was never another quite like her.

She was a hardworking woman who spent her working years in the jewelry and shoe industries. In her free time, she enjoyed ceramics, arts and crafts, and creating things with her hands. She also found great joy in cooking and baking, sharing her love in one of the most special ways she knew how: through food. Her pineapple upside-down cake and vegetable soup were among the special tastes her family will always remember. Those, recipes, like so many of her traditions, will live on through the memories of those who gathered around her table.

Jeanie's greatest masterpiece was never anything she made with her hands. It was the family she helped build, the generations she helped raise, and the countless lives she touched along the way.

Though she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Richard, and those family members who went before her, the love she gave will never leave the people she leaves behind.

Her laughter will be remembered, her feistiness will be missed, her recipes will be treasured, and her love will continue to live on through every generation she helped shape.

Rest peacefully, Gee. You were loved beyond measure, and you will forever live in the hearts of the family you built and the generations you helped shape. "We love you more!"
