Eugene Victor Herrmann, Jr.

Eugene Victor Herrmann, Jr. (Gene, Ompah) died September 24, 2026 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joanne. Eugene was born on December 22, 1939 to Eugene, Sr. and Anne Herrmann. He was brother of Rodney, Sr. (the late Jerilyn) of Pittsburgh, Lawrence (Bonnie) of Pittsburgh and Rosemay of Oceanview, Delaware. Father of Dana Ashley Herrmann Friday and Eugene Victor Herrmann III (Heather), Grandfather (Ompah) of Anne Labarge (Shane), Megan Friday, Sara Friday, Kate Friday, Eugene Victor Herrmann IV, Jack Herrmann and William Herrmann.

Gene was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Penn Hills High School and Carnegie Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Printing Management. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He joined the Army after college and remained in the Army reserves for many years.

Gene was a business leader in Pittsburgh and the former CEO and President of Herrmann Printing and Litho, Inc. and former President of Elisco Advertising.

During his teen years, he sang in a doo-wop group named “The Jokers” and he loved to share his band’s music with family and friends throughout his life. Years later, while a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Gene sang in the church choir with Joanne.

Gene loved to visit Bethany Beach, Delaware and Bald Head Island, North Carolina as well as other beaches with his family and friends. Here he found total relaxation surf-fishing and always wanted any guests and family to join him.

Gene enjoyed karate and he and Joanne were black belts in Isshinryu Karate. He was passionate about golf and played as often as possible with Joanne and his friends.

Gene will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

His life will be celebrated Friday October 2, 2026 from 10 a.m -12:30 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont PA 15139.

A procession will be lead to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1610 Powers Run Rd. Pgh., PA 15238 for a 1 p.m. funeral service in the church.
