Florraine (Panza) MacDowell of Harmar Township passed peacefully on March 8, 2025, at the age of 84. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Gary MacDowell, her parents Philip and Florence (Lamparski), and her brothers Richard and Wayne Panza. She is survived by her son Philip (Tara), and grandson (Maddox), her brother Phil Panza, nieces Becky and Debbie Panza, Lettia and Keyola Panza, nephew Sean Panza, and several cherished great nieces and nephews.
Florraine was born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Springdale High School.
As a young woman, she started a singing career that took her around the world (Vietnam) and across the country. In 1962, performing as Florraine Darlin, she recorded the response to Bobby Vinton's hit "Roses are Red My Love". Her song "Long as the Rose is Red" made it to number 64 on the Billboard Top 100 Chart.
Florraine went on to lead a happy life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker on her beloved family farm. She enjoyed golfing and skiing with family and friends. Always one to help others, Florraine will be greatly missed by many.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday March 12, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the BURKET- TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC at 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont PA 15139.
A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. the following day on Thursday March 13, 2025, in the funeral home with Father Thom Miller officiating.
Interment to follow at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.
