Obituary

Harry Wesley Pavone passed away on February 27, 2025, in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, with his loving wife by his side.  His courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma is complete.

He was born on February 16, 1945, and raised in Verona as the first child of Helen and Samuel Pavone.  He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 28 years, Christine Pavone, his daughter Michelle Myers of Verona, granddaughters Sarah Michel and Sydney SeNay (Skyler Kutzner) of Pittsburgh, Sister-in-Law Barb Pavone of Athens, GA, Nephew Sean Pavone of Athens, GA and brother Doug Pavone (Kevin O'Farrell) of St. Petersburg, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his son Aaron Myers, his brother Lloyd, and his son-in-law Shawn Michel.

Harry was a 1963 graduate of Verona High School and West Virginia University.  He played for Verona's only WPIAL Championship Football Team in 1962.  He began his college career but within a year, he was drafted as a Marine and served nearly two years in Vietnam.   He came home to complete his degree in Psychology and moved back to Verona to work on the railroad.

He retired in 2019 after over 20 years, as an Account Manager for EAP Industries.  He was the Manager for Southwestern Pennsylvania - working with water utilities and consulting with them about Neptune Technolgy Systems.

Harry was a friend to all and a weekly staple at Hoffstot's and the Oakmont Yacht Club.  He was especially proud of his granddaughters - he never missed a play, a musical, a recital, concert, or a parade.  He loved his Tuesday night golf league, but his biggest passion was traveling with his wife.  They have visited Greece, Italy, Poland, France, Morrocco, Japan, Spain, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Aruba, and many Caribbean Islands including St. Marteen and St. Lucia.  Their month-long yearly visit to Mexico is where they met their Xaman Ha Vacation Family.  He recently celebrated his 80th birthday with a grand celebration with the friends who have surrounded his wife with love and support during this difficult time.

Harry was a proud Marine Sergeant.  Over the past few years, he's embraced being a Vietnam Veteran and participated in the Memorial Day Parades and was fortunate to go on an Honor Flight to Washington DC with some of his fellow veterans in 2022.  The Verona Vietnam Veterans group had become an integral part of his life - meeting monthly for breakfast and most recently the project of reviving the cannon that graces the gateway to Verona that honors all of the Veterans.

Per Harry's request, there will be no public visitation.  A funeral service will be held on Friday April 4, 2025, at Riverside Community Church 401 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont PA 15139 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bill Ellis officiating.

Inurnment will follow at the Verona Cemetery Mausoleum in Oakmont with Marine's Honors.

In lieu of flowers, please think about donating directly to Christine for expenses involved with unexpected travel, borders, embassies, and unforeseen healthcare and funeral planning bringing Harry home.
