Mary A. Herilla, age 87, passed away peacefully in her Springdale home on March 23, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and adventure. Born to Lucy and Walter Danforth, Mary was a beloved mother to Doris (Elliot) Lincoln, John (Toni) Robbins, the late Mary "Lucy" Robbins, and Judy (Adam) Lipinski. She was a cherished grandmother to Brian, Tyler, Noah Robbins, Petty Officer 1st Class Jonathan Lincoln, Kimberly (Matt) Falchetti and Cody Lipinski. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of two great-grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her siblings Walter Danforth, Tillie Neal, William Danforth (KIA in 1944), Ellen "Corky" Virginia Carpenter, and John Danforth. She is survived by her sisters Bernice "Ditty" (Barry) Barnhart and Judy (late Nelson) Burkhart.

Known affectionately as mom to more than just family, she also went by "Booty," "Aunt Boots", and "Mama Boots". Mary was a tenacious and adventurous soul who loved fishing, playing bingo, and dancing to polkas. Her passion for cooking led her to work as a cook on riverboats, traveling from Pittsburgh all the way to New Orleans. She also ran kitchens in restaurants and nursing homes, and her home-cooked meals were greatly appreciated. She told the best stories, over a beer, or while drinking her scalding hot black coffee. She was incredibly generous to everyone around her.

Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory and legacy will live on through them. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 on Monday, March 27, from 10-12, followed by a funeral service at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Bull Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please do an intentional act of kindness toward someone in Mary's memory.
