Dr. James Peter Zaccardi, M.D.

April 2, 1936 – July 6, 2025

Dr. James "Jim" Peter Zaccardi passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 2, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jim dedicated his life to caring for others, both personally and professionally.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Allegheny College and went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. A devoted physician, Jim practiced internal medicine for over three decades, spending most of that time serving patients at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. His compassion, intelligence, and dedication left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Beyond his medical career, Jim had many passions. He was an avid football fan, a Life Master in bridge, and was widely admired for his skill and creativity in landscaping. His own yard, with its carefully designed landscaping and vibrant flowers, was a true expression of his artistry and love of beauty.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Jean Zaccardi, his sister, Jean Buckley, and his identical twin brother, Joseph Zaccardi. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara, with whom he built a beautiful life and family. He was the proud and devoted father of four children, who were the pride and joy of his life: Cindy Zaccardi of Valencia; Donna (Richard) McGinley of Allison Park; James (Laura) Zaccardi of Chandler, Arizona; and David (Cat) Zaccardi of Franklin Park. His caring legacy, lifelong dedication, and strong presence live on in them.

He was also a loving grandfather to eight grandchildren: Carly, Chloe, Jessica, Rachel, Katie, Amanda, Peter, and Mark. In addition, he is survived by his cherished nieces and nephew. His sense of humor, strong presence, and the deep impression he left on those who knew him will never be forgotten.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 9, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Burket-Truby Funeral Home, Cremation and Alternative Services, Inc. 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont (412-828-3535).
