Jan Karol Kochmanski, 78, of Cheswick, has left us. He passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, in his home, shoes off, TV on (at MAX volume, of course). He was planning to come to his grandson's soccer game, tomorrow. But… the universe had other plans.

He was the eldest son of the late Thaddeus "Ted" and Leokadia "Lottie" (Kulas) Kochmanski, who raised him in Leechburg, PA. He's survived by his only son, Douglas (Breanne) Kochmanski, and his grandchildren, Oskar and Greta, as well as his younger brother and American Legion buddy, Gregory Kochmanski. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Lynne (Rebele) Kochmanski.

He was… FUN. Personified. Everything the man did; he did with JOY. He had a brilliant advertising and marketing mind that fueled a 5-decade long career as a creative director. He built the most incredible treehouses. His talent for acrylic painting, pencil drawing, wood carving, clay sculpting, model railroading and giant-Christmas-tree-decorating were off-the-charts. And he meticulously maintained the most gorgeous backyard oasis, complete with an ever-expanding koi pond with multiple waterfalls and his "homemade" boulders.

He was proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps and never missed a chance to shout "Semper Fi" at a fellow soldier — and probably buy that soldier a beer. He'll surely be missed at Gino Bros. in Harmar and at the Springdale Sportsman's Club.

Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 on Wednesday, November 12, from 1-2 PM, where remarks will be made at 2 PM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
