Janet Moxley Smith passed peacefully in her Oakmont home where she and her family lived for nearly 60 years on May 24, 2024 at the age of 92.
A lifelong Pittsburgher, Janet was born on February 11, 1932, and grew up in Squirrel Hill before attending Penn State University - an Alma mater she and her husband shared.
Janet spent much of her life as an active volunteer, donating her time to Carnegie Museum of Art and Children's Hospital. Every summer she could be found swimming laps at the Oakmont Country Club pool, playing Bridge on a Wednesday afternoon, or tending to her backyard gardens. Most important to her, Janet spent most of her life as a loving and devoted grandmother to her two granddaughters, Samantha and Melissa. Through ups and downs and life's biggest events, she was the family rock. Never judging, always supporting.
Janet is survived by her husband, Robert 'Banks', and two sons, Michael and wife Jody, and Christopher and wife Gail.
Arrangements private and entrusted to the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., Oakmont.
