John Clifton Schmidt, 82, of Allison Park, formerly of Oakmont, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 8, 2024.

John was born on July 29, 1941, to John and Pauline Schmidt in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

John was the beloved husband of Cheryl Cronin Schmidt for 62 years.  They had three children, Laurie Patterson, Lynda (Robert) Corlett, and John (Allison) Schmidt. He was the brother of Mary Margaret Zoller and the late Martha Jean Schmidt.  John was the brother-in-law of Robert (Diane) Cronin, Jeffrey (Sandy) Cronin, Timothy (Teresa) Cronin, and the late William (Ruth) Cronin.  John was the proud "Poppy" of Rachel, Ryan (Carter), Jacob, Mary Kate (Aaron), Emma, Finnley, and Olivia.

John worked for many years in management in the manufacturing industry.  After retiring, he had a second, enjoyable career doing home construction work with his friend and neighbor, Sonny Leger.  He also faithfully served his church, Redeemer Lutheran, in Oakmont.

He loved the outdoors especially fishing and hunting with his life-long friends, Joe Miceli, Mike DeBernardin and Sam 'Buddy' Farren.

John held strong Christian beliefs and is now resting in the loving arms of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Highpointe, 1871 Highpointe Lane, Allison Park, PA  15101.  A luncheon will follow the service at Highpointe.
