Kathleen (O'Hara) Hartwig was born October 25, 1927 and died at the age of 96 on June 19, 2024. Kathleen was born and raised in Indiana. She spent her childhood to adult years in South Bend, a town she held close to her heart. She was a devote Catholic and extraordinary fan of the University of Notre Dame. At the age of 25, she married Dr. Quentin L. Hartwig and was a loving stay at home mom with their four children. With several moves in the history of the family, Kathleen was very active with area "Welcome Wagons". She and Quentin would often enter dance contests, at times bringing home a trophy!
In later years, she worked as an office administrator in the Admissions Department at the Community College of Allegheny County until her retirement. In her retirement years she volunteered at the Jubilee Soup Kitchen and ushered for the Arts Cultural District in Pittsburgh. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and enjoyed a good game of bocce! There is nothing like a mom, there was no one like Kathleen.
She was the daughter of the late Ed and Regina O'Hara of South Bend In. She was the younger sister of the late John, James and Bill O'Hara. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Kay (Nick) Xeros, Susan (Marty) Sherry and Mercedes (Billy) Greene and son, Frank (Sherry) Hartwig. Grandchildren, Kathleen (Alex) Berki, Nick (Cheri) Xeros, Ben (Sarah) Sherry, Christopher (Emily) Sherry, Quentin (Conny) Hartwig, Bailey (Aaron) Adams and Kelly (Austin) Spangler. Also, eleven great-grandchildren! Nickolas, Andrew and Raymond, Lucy, Holden, Michael, Benjamin, Graham and Elliott, Callie and Killian. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the University of Notre Dame in Kathleen's honor.
