Kathleen Joyce Miller
May 22, 1951 – September 24, 2025
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen Joyce Miller, who left this world on September 24, 2025, at the age of 74. She passed peacefully with her son by her side, his hand in hers as she took her final breath, just as she had been there for his very first.
Kathy was born on May 22, 1951, to the late George and Margaret Wocosky. She was the beloved wife of Gary Miller, cherished mother of Marcus (Amber), and adoring "Gam" to her two grandchildren, Violet and Marcus, who lit up her world in ways nothing else could.
Years ago, Kathy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, a cruel illness often called "the long goodbye." With strength and grace, she faced its challenges as her family lovingly walked alongside her. Even as the disease gradually stole so much, the joy on her face when she saw her grandchildren managed to shine through the fog. Those moments were treasured gifts to all who loved her.
Before Alzheimer's, Kathy was vibrant, strong, and full of life. She had a big heart, a stubborn streak, and a gift for connecting with others. She loved the beach, especially the Carolina shore, and filled her life with laughter, memories, and the companionship of her beloved dogs. Holidays, family gatherings, and simple days by the ocean were where she was happiest.
Her son shared the profound beauty of their bond: at his birth, his father fainted in the delivery room, leaving mother and child together in those first sacred moments. And in the end, it was just the two of them again—full circle, from his very first moment to her very last.
Kathy is now reunited with her parents, and the many dogs she adored throughout her life.
True to who she was, Kathy wished not to have a viewing or traditional service. Instead, her family will honor her life with a Celebration of Life in May of 2026, around the time of her birthday.
She will be remembered always for her love, her laughter, her lessons, and the countless memories she created. Rest peacefully, Kathy. You are forever loved.
