Charlotte B. Kauffman, age 94 of Oakmont and formerly of Springdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 3, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Pearl and Guy Battles. Beloved wife of the late Donald D. Kauffman. Loving mother of Donald B. Kauffman, Nora K. (Fred) Dunning, Guy A. Kauffman, and James S. (Dawna) Kauffman. Grandmother of Erika Kauffman, Carly Dunning, and Claire Dunning. Sister of Ed (surviving spouse Carol) Battles, the late Alice (late Rev. Charles) McCloskey, late Gloria (late Ed) Howell, and the late Guy Battles, Jr. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Charlotte was originally from Springdale, graduating from Springdale High School in 1946, attending Clarion University for 2 years, Penn State for graduate school, and finishing with a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in social work. During that time Charlotte had moved from Springdale to Oakmont. She was a member of Penn Hills Baptist Church, serving on the Board of Directors there and at the Rankin Christian Center. She worked for many years at St. Margaret's as a social worker. Charlotte was a past Matron of the Eastern Star and for 3 years was the President of the Women's Ministries of Pittsburgh Baptist Association. Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 on Sunday May 7 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Monday May 8 from 10-11 in the funeral home where a service will be held at 11 with Rev. Tim Williams. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. If desired, memorials may be made to the Penn Hills Baptist Church or the Rankin Christian Center.
