Larry W. Pollick

Larry W. Pollick of Cheswick passed peacefully on September 21, 2026 at the age of 77. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Genevieve (Hamen). He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Christine (Ball), his two daughters Tara (Phil MacDowell), Lauren (Eric D’Onofrio) and cherished grandchildren Maddox MacDowell, Luke D’Onofrio, and Lilah D’Onofrio, as well as his brother Charles Pollick (Sandy) of Bell Air Beach Florida, in addition to treasured sisters in law (Carol Misik and Cherie Mesiano), brothers in law (Les Misik and Charlie Mesiano) and many nieces and nephews in addition to several great nieces and nephews.

Larry was born in New Kensington and graduated from Springdale High School in 1967. After high school he attended Edinboro University on a football scholarship. He had an illustrious career at Edinboro and was inducted into the sports hall of fame last fall. He went on to enjoy and long and happy career as a teacher and a coach. He began his career as a teacher at Leechburg Elementary School in 1974. He taught English and Language Arts for over 30 years. In addition to his teaching career, Larry was very proud of the years he spent coaching. Larry coached football at Leechburg and Valley, but is most proud of the time he spent as the Head Football Coach at his alma mater, Springdale High School. Larry also spent many years coaching women’s and men’s basketball at Leechburg. He touched many lives through teaching and coaching and will be forever loved for the impact he had on many young men and women.

Larry dedicated his life to serving others. A Dynamo to his death he proudly served the Allegheny Valley School Board for sixteen years, serving as President for 12 years. He loved his community and took pride in helping the school district he cherished. In 2020 he was inducted into the Allegheny Valley Alumni Hall of Fame. In his role as School Board President he also served on the board of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and was President of the board at the Forbes Technical School.

Larry loved his family more than anything. He and Christine enjoyed many vacations with family and a group of beloved friends (The Bohemians). He was always there with a smile, helping hand, and sometimes a treasured coin.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday September 24, 2026, from 2-7 p.m. at the BURKET- TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont PA 15139. A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday September 25, 2026, 10 a.m. at Guardian Angels Parish - Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1319 Low Grade Rd. Harwick PA 15049. Larry's Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father John Lengvai.

Burial will follow at Deer Creek Cemetery.
