Lloyd Walter Patross passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, after a remarkable life.
He was a devoted father, loyal friend, and a man whose warmth, kindness, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Lloyd was an avid reader who knew something about everything. Lloyd traveled extensively for work and pleasure. He traveled to all 50 states, as well as international destinations, but was happiest spending time with family and friends, especially when surrounded by nature.
Lloyd was the grandson of Eastern European immigrants. He grew up in McKees Rocks and was the first in his family to attend college, earning his undergraduate degree from the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) and his J.D. and M.B.A. at Cornell University. He started his legal career at Berkman, Ruslander, Pohl, Lieber and Engel, where colleagues and clients became lifelong friends. He spent the majority of his career in corporate law at Westinghouse. He was happiest when he was able to help people solve their problems.
Lloyd loved the outdoors and shared that love with his family, especially fly fishing and downhill skiing. Friends and family were of the utmost importance to Lloyd. He loved telling a good story, and his absolute favorite (told annually) was when Courtney made an early arrival and Lloyd delivered her on the bathroom floor!
Although he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, he did not let this define him and he was diligent in managing the effects.
He believed in science, education, democracy, dad jokes and donuts.
He is preceded in death by his second wife, Christine Davis, his parents, Walter Patross and Mary Patross (Supinka). Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Lindsay, Whitney and Courtney (Christopher Braden); sister Maryann Moore, brother-in-law Thomas Moore and nephew Andrew Moore (Kristina Snyder); three stepchildren, Amy (Brad) Wilks, Mindy LaBelle, and Brandon (Monica) Davis; nine grandchildren, Kelan Wilks, Tarin Wilks, Julian Wilks, Ezra Davis, Elliot Davis, Ruby LaBelle, Bridget Pietra Braden, Eloise Patross Braden, and Peter Lloyd Braden; as well as his Supinka cousins, his former spouse JoAnn Patross, and a network of cherished friends.
There will be a visitation at Burket-Truby Funeral Home, Cremation and Alternative Services, Inc. 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont on Monday, June 15 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, and a service at Shadyside Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, June 16 at 11 am. A future service will be held at Longwood at Oakmont.
