Obituary

Luigina "Gena" Meloni, of Harmar, peacefully passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 5, 1931, in Endine Gaiano, Bergamo, Italy, Gena was the beloved daughter of the late Giacomo and Rosalinda Meloni. She immigrated to the United States at a young age, carrying with her a deep pride in her Italian heritage.

A woman of strong faith and enduring family values, Gena's sense of style and grace were evident throughout her life. She was a devoted Catholic with a special reverence for the Blessed Mother and had been a cherished member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (now Christ the King) since its founding in 1941.

Gena's family meant the world to her. She is survived by her sister, Maria "Mary" Miller, with whom she immigrated and shared a lifelong, inseparable bond. Mary, who became Gena's dedicated caregiver in recent years, was a source of immense love and support. Gena is also survived by her brother, David Meloni, who she proudly supported in his athletic and coaching endeavors.

Although Gena never had children of her own, she was deeply involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews: Linda Neff and her husband Christopher and Jeffrey Miller and wife Lynn as well as her great-nieces, Emily (Drew) Neff and Katherine (Ryan) Levin, and great-nephews, Eric and Evan Neff. Gena especially enjoyed meeting her great-great nephew Lincoln.

In addition to her parents, Gena was preceded in death by her great-niece, Paige Miller; her brother-in-law, Bernard Miller; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Meloni.

A lover of fashion, Gena was always impeccably dressed and had a gift for lifting the spirits of those around her. She was known for seeing the good in everyone and always had a kind word to share. Gena worked for many years as a receptionist for Blawnox Equipment DIvision. Her joyful personality and thoughtful nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Harmar Village, who became like family over the years. Special thanks to CNA Shannon Kuhn along with her daughters who were especially dear to Gena and loved by her, and to all the caregivers at Harmar Village—Gena's words to them were, "Thank you, Honey—you're beautiful."

Gena's legacy of love faith and grace will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Gena's services will be private and entrusted to BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., Oakmont
