Mary Jane (Janie) McCollum, nee Sefton died peacefully on June 20, 2025, at Brightway Memory Care in Portland, OR.  She was born August 2, 1928, in Saxonburg, PA to the late Wilma Stoup Sefton and Oscar Leland Sefton, and grew up on a farm without electricity or indoor plumbing.

Before marriage to Edgar Allen McCollum in 1949, she worked at the Aluminum Company of America doing general office work.  Mary Jane was a member of Eastern Star, Star of Bethlehem Corinth Chapter 229, and a longtime member of Oakmont United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed her garden and preserving foods, as well as sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and making tiny, tailored doll clothes, which were donated for church fundraising sales. In retirement they moved to Ft. Myers, Florida, and were active members of Grace United Methodist Church.  When Edgar died in 2011, Mary Jane moved to Portland, OR.

She is survived by three children: Linda (Jim) Trujillo, of Portland, OR, David (Ann) McCollum, of Somers, CT, and Marsha McCollum, of Houston, TX; five grandchildren: Kelly Brown (Matt Bibeau), Spencer (Sarah) Brown, Evan Brown, Sarah McCollum, Jacob McCollum; and four great grandchildren: Talon Hogan, Yarrow Hogan, Easton Brown, and Vivian Brown.  In addition, she is survived by her sister Dorothy (Ken) Nolf of Natrona Hts. and sister-in-law Alma Early of Freeport, PA.  She was preceded in death by her sister Grace Sefton Malcolm in 2023 and half-brother William Paul Williams.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, June 28 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC, at 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA.  The funeral service will start at 11:00 am, followed by interment at Plum Creek Cemetery.
