Matthew Hanlon age 89 of Penn Hills passed away Sunday November 10, 2024 peacefully surrounded by loving family. Loving Husband for 60 years to the late Geraldine Hanlon. Loving father of Brian (Donna) Hanlon, Craig Hanlon, and the late Kevin Hanlon.  Grampap aka "pap" to Katie (Ryan) Berner, Laura (Jon) Ruperto, Danielle Hanlon, and Zachary (significant other Acelynn Zimmerman) Hanlon.  Great-grandfather to Finnegan, Maddox, Maggie, Jordan, Enzo, Declan.  Loving brother of Ruth Barone. Loving Son of the late John F. and Marie (Kane) Hanlon. Proceeded in death by his late 11 brothers & Sisters James, Jack, Robert, Jane, Genevieve, Larry, Leo, Patricia, Margaret (Peggy) Thomas, & Charles.

Matthew was a Korean War Army Veteran.  He retired from Teamsters Local 249. He was recently honored for his 53 years of dedicated service to Penn Hills #224 (#4) Volunteer Fire Association.  He served our country defending South Korea and inspiring current and future generations to continue defending freedom. He served his community, and his bravery kept his neighbors safe. He worked hard to provide for his wife and three boys. He was loved and will be deeply missed.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday November 12, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139.  Fireman's service will be held at 7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday November 13th, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Verona.  EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery with military honors.
