Nancy Hendry, 70, of Plum Borough passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 18th, 2023 surrounded by family.  She was born on October 14th, 1952 to the late Gabriel and Ann Mattarochia of Pittsburgh. She married Malcolm Hendry on October 1, 1973 and in their nearly 50 years of marriage, they raised three children together.

Nancy devoted her professional life to servicing others, initially at George Aiken's in Wilkinsburg, PA where she worked as a teenager, and after raising her children, working as a Home Health Aide.  Finally, for nearly 20 years, Nancy worked as a waitress and developed several lasting friendships at Eat n Park restaurant in Parnassus.  She was an avid gardener and loved houseplants as well as tending to her shrubs, flowers, vegetables, and herbs outdoors.  Her greatest passions in life though were her family and cooking - she loved nothing more than to prepare a meal for friends and family.

Nancy is survived by her husband Malcolm, her three children, John (Chris) Mattarochia of Phoenix, AZ, Robert (Jamie) Hendry of Plum, and Angela (Mike) Tunstall of Plum; six grand-children, Jonathan Mattarochia, Anna (Joel) Singleton, Chase Tunstall, Brylee and Emerson Hendry, and Teagan Mattarochia; as well as one great-grandchild, Lucy Singleton; her brother Anthony, her sister Angela (Dale) Weber, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents Gabriel and Ann Mattarochia, as well as her siblings John and Vincent Mattarochia of Pittsburgh.  Nancy will be overjoyed to be reunited with her beloved companion, Peanut.

Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 on Thursday and Friday September 21 and 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
