Palma L. Bruce, age 94 of Penn Hills passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening March 6, 2024, at St. Clair Hospital. Steadfast daughter of the late Catherine and Joseph Lombardo, Sr. Beloved wife for over 55 years of the late James J. Bruce. Unmatchable mother to James (Shari) Bruce, Jr. and Valerie (Robert) Bruce Hovland. Protective sister of Catherine (late Ralph) Facciani, the late Joseph (late Nora) Lombardo, the late Dominic (late Alice) Lombardo, the late Diane Lombardo, and the late Frances (Lawrence) King. Close cousin to the late Josephine DelPizzo. Sister-in-law of Virginia Iannacchione. Devoted grandmother to Alexandra (Andrew) Garner, James Bruce, III, Andrew Bruce, Robert Hovland, and Dana Bruce. Elated great-grandmother to Catherine Garner. Survived by many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Palma worked for over 30 years as a Nutrition Specialist and Manager for the Penn Hills School District. She also worked as a seamstress for many years at Richman Brothers. She enjoyed sewing and designed her own fashions. She volunteered her time fundraising for Easter Seals, The American Heart Association, The Leukemia Society and The American Cancer Society. She was a proud 15-year Breast Cancer survivor. Palma exemplified Love In Action.
Friends and relatives will be received on Monday March 11, 2024, from 3-7 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish - St. Joseph's Church in Verona, EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Entombment and committal prayers to follow at the Allegheny Cemetery Mausoleum, Pittsburgh. Donations suggestions include Mobile Meals of Oakmont and the Leukemia Society.
