Obituary

Patricia Dvorchak devoted her life to raising children, whether it was her two lovely daughters, her five precious granddaughters or the hundreds of youngsters whose lives she touched as a childcare specialist at Waterworks Child Development Center where she was known as Miss Pat.

With tireless energy, she possessed a mother's touch that turned a house into a home. Her home was always immaculate and filled with the aromas of her exceptional cooking, especially the pastries she made for holidays and family gatherings.

She was steadfast in her yard work and was a neighborhood ambassador of sorts who stopped on her daily walks to chat with friends. Earlier in her life, she served as an assistant coach for a Penn Hills youth soccer team and was a popular member of a mixed couples bowling league.

A flag-waving supporter of those who serve our country, she had a special bond with the 82nd Airborne Division. In addition, she was a loyal fan of the Penguins and Steelers, but her favorite team to watch was her beloved Pirates.

Patricia Ann Dvorchak, 69, of Verona died peacefully in her sleep in the wee hours of Tuesday, Oct. 17, under Good Samaritan Hospice care at Concordia at Rebecca Residence in Allison Park. Endowed with a warrior's spirit, she fought a prolonged and courageous battle against cancer before the disease became untreatable.

Born March 8, 1954, in the Fayette County community of Grindstone, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Genevieve (Maruszewski) Vig.

The devoted wife of 53 years to Robert J. Dvorchak, she was the loving mother of Stacie (Brian) Magness of Mars, Pa., and Rebecca (David) Robertson of Allison Park. Surviving are her five grandchildren: Olivia Marie, Claire Elizabeth, Molly Katherine, Ellery Grace and Jocelyn Patricia.

Also left to cherish her memory are four siblings: Barbara (James) Yadamec, Thomas (late Rita) Vig, Bernard (Paula) Vig and Danette (late Mark) Hughes.

Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139 on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, in the funeral home with Sister Lynn Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Shadyside Hospital.
