Paula "Polly" Joan Hewitt Kokales
Paula J. Hewitt Kokales, 71, of Plum Boro, formerly Oakmont, Pa, passed away on September 10, 2023. Her soul mate and husband of 49 years, Nick Kokales, was by her side on this day and every day. Polly lived her life as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. Her love for them was her strength. Being a mother to Kristen and Nicholas was her lifelong dream and she made them feel loved and supported every single day. She filled her home with warmth and laughter. Polly met Nick in French class at Oakmont High School in 1967 and they built a life together for 56 years. Pollys children and grandchildren were her world and she created a home of security, memories and traditions. She was an avid reader, collector of antiques, and loved spending time on her porch with her beloved Dog, Lincoln. Many people called her "best friend" because of her genuine kindness and devotion. She loved traveling to Maine in the fall and hosting family dinners and birthday celebrations all year long. She never missed a big or small event in the lives of her Grandchildren; they lit up her life. She cherished long talks with her kids, son-in-law, grandkids, sister and her friends. If you had to choose one word to describe Polly, it is caregiver. She took care of her parents, mother and father-in-law, and her sister-in-law when they needed her – her unwavering devotion to them was her superpower.
Polly was a graduate of Oakmont High School, class of 1970 and furthered her education at Robert Morris University. Polly's strong faith was rooted in her lifelong membership of Oakmont Presbyterian Church. Polly is survived by her husband of 49 years, Nick Kokales, her Children, Kristen L. (Michael) Aleprete of Zelienople, and Nicholas J. Kokales of Oakmont, her grandchildren, Nolan and Jane Aleprete, her sister, Pat (Roger) Nesbit of Plum, her brother-in-law John (Arlene) Kokales of Edgewood, and her beloved Niece and nephews and many friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents, James and Jane (Lee) Hewitt of Oakmont, Pa.
