Pearl Irene (Alston) Gaston, 99, of Penn Hills passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday April 16th, 2026. She was born in Oakmont on March15, 1927, the daughter of Jacob and Hallie (Watkins) Alston.
She was born on March 15, 1927 in Oakmont, Pa. Pearl lived a life defined by love, selflessness, and dependability.
Pearl was an avid bowler and softball player. She had a love of many sports and enjoyed cooking and gardening, known for her apple and sweet potato pies. She was a passionate homemaker and took on the role of caretaker for many family and friends. Pearl will be remembered most for her generosity towards others, kind heart, and “spicy words of wisdom” leaving an enduring effect on many.
She is survived by her beloved son William (Bill) Gaston, daughter Kimberly Gaston, sister June (Willie) Brown of Apollo, Pa, grandchild Dominique Gaston, great grandson Adrian Clements, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers Harry H. Alston and Robert Alston, and three sisters Anna Mountain, Evelyn Pollard, and Dorothy Poynter.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday April 21, 2026 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139. A funeral service will be held the following day, Wednesday April 22nd, 11am in the funeral home, Rev. Reid Green officiating of St. Paul Baptist Church Oakmont. Burial to follow at the Verona Cemetery in Oakmont.
