Richard Pyle

d. January 24, 2026

Verona, Murrysville and Myrtle Beach

Richard Pyle (82), of Verona and Murrysville, Pennsylvania, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away surrounded by love on January 24, 2026.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara “Jane” Pyle (Lassiter), and his family, who meant the world to him. Richard leaves behind his children: Connie Andring (Eric), with grandchild Damon (Caitlyn), and great-grandchild Lillian; Lance Pyle (Kim), with grandchild Emma; and Deneen Tercan (Cenk). He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished time with his family.

Richard had a lifelong passion for drum and bugle corps and marching bands. He founded the Rainbow Connection Drum and Bugle group in Apollo, Pennsylvania, taught the Shamrock Marching Group, and worked with local high school marching bands, including Churchill and Kiski. Even after retirement, his love for music never faded—he traveled across the United States attending Drum Corps shows, always inspired by the sound and discipline he so deeply admired.

Before retiring, Richard was an entrepreneur and owned his own business, Richard’s Drapery Fashions, for over 20 years, a reflection of his dedication, work ethic, and independence.

Richard will be remembered for his love of drum corps, his commitment to teaching hard knocks to anyone who would listen, and the deep pride he took in his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, both on and off the field.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Richard’s memory to the Friends of DCI Scholarship Fund (https://dci.app.neoncrm.com/forms/friends-of-dci-scholarship).

Richard rests peacefully at Oakmont-Verona Cemetery.
